Thank You, Foster Parents, For All You Do!

Dear SaintA Caregivers:

Foster Parent Appreciation Month starts this week, so I wanted to take a moment to acknowledge everything you do for kids in your care. From the daily love and safety you provide to the milestones you help children achieve, we can’t thank you enough.

Teri Zywicki

I’ve had the honor of watching the foster care model evolve to where it is today. Whenever I’m out in the community talking about the role of foster parents, people are amazed to learn that your main goal is reunifying children with their birth families. Many react by saying how difficult it must be to care for a child as if they were your own, knowing it’s only meant to be temporary.

That’s the unique challenge of following this calling and one of the many reasons I’m so thankful for our dedicated foster parents. We have seen how you use trauma informed care – along with patience, and often, a sense of humor – to take care of foster children for however long they need you.

I’m particularly honored that SaintA is a part of the Fostering Relationships care model wherein foster and birth parents work together to care for children. We have seen some amazing relationships form, like in this story: Mom, Dad, Baby, and Dad Make a Family.

By putting the needs of children at the center of everything we do, we are creating the change we want to see in our corner of the world, in our communities. If you’re an adoptive family, we also thank you for stepping into the role of permanency and are grateful for your support of the foster-to-adopt system.

Please enjoy Foster Parent Appreciation Month and I hope you will take the time to celebrate everything you do for children in your care. We truly couldn’t do this without you.

Join us for Call to Action Day, May 6, 10 a.m.
